The more I grow up, the more I realise that the real future of this world will be what our children and grandchildren make it.
As adults, we realise that the most important thing we can do to impact the future is teach our children well and let them lead the way.
I’ve always believed that if children are given a good start in life, they can accomplish anything. A good start is a vague phrase though, what does it mean? To me, a good start means health, education and belief in themselves.

Not long ago, my husband returned from a trip to Cambodia with stories of a country decimated by war and generations lost through the atrocities of former governments, and of young children with no option but to work to ensure their family’s survival.
On Jo’s return from Cambodia last year I learnt more about the brutal regime that destroyed an entire country while the governments and media of the western world ignored the atrocities being committed.

That’s why I’m joining Jo and the Project GenZ team this year, to raise money and awareness for Sunrise Children’s Village. While Pol Pot’s brutal regime ended the same year I was born, the effects are still apparent today, in a population without education or the opportunities that we take for granted. It’s past time that we helped this country recover their lost future.

Over the next few months Jo and I will be putting in a lot of time and hard work to raise our goal of $20,000 to help secure a better future for children who may not have access to all the opportunities and conveniences that we in Australia consider necessary.

The money we raise will be used to set up medical clinics, teaching programs and community sustainability projects in the village. While we’re there, we’ll work with the teachers at Sunrise Children’s Village to help them improve the educational content and materials available and we’ll work directly with the children in a series of workshops designed to help them rise above their circumstance and realise their full potential to make a difference in their own lives, in their community and in the world.

I know that you want the same thing I do – a brighter future for all children. While Jo and I will be doing everything we can between now and October, we can’t do it alone – we’re counting on your support. I hope that you’ll join us at one or more of our fundraising activities or take advantage of the time that we’ll be donating to the cause by booking a speaking or training event for your staff. 100% of the money raised from these bookings will be donated to Sunrise Children’s Village. Or you can make a donation directly to the cause, every little bit from us makes a big difference to these kids.
